Code of ethics and conduct of elected officials

The Act respecting ethics and professional conduct in municipal matters (L.R.Q., c. E-15.1.0.1) ensures the adoption of a code of ethics and professional conduct by Québec municipalities. This measure aims to uphold the values that govern elected municipal officials in the exercise of their mandate as well as the rules of ethics applicable to the benefit of the public interest and the maintenance of public confidence.

 Remuneration for elected officials

Under section 217, Act 122 – the purpose of this Law is to recognize that municipalities are proximity governments and, as such, increase their autonomy and their powers. According to the regulations in force, the Municipality of Barnston-Ouest makes public the salary of Municipal elected officials who were part of the Municipal Council of Barnston-Ouest during the year 2019.
